We will call to an important meeting soon to talk about details of the trip.

Discovery Choir will perform at our Independence Day Celebration on September 12, 2013
IMPORTANT:
On Friday September 6, we send home an important letter about the New York trip. Please take the time to read it and sign it if you are planning to participate.
If your child is not going to be part of this event, He/She is welcome to continue in choir rehearsals.
Choir is a CLASS that counts for GPA to the secondary students.
DPTO - Parents, please take a minute and fill out the short survey for the Discovery School Parent-Teacher Organization. As you are part of the DPTO, the executive team wants your feedback and ideas on events and focus for the year. Both parents are encouraged to fill out the survey. FROM THE FINANCE OFFICE – Parents who are not using an automatic debit system with a credit card to pay tution are asked to stop by the Finance Office to obtain their payment cards as soon as posible.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPEMENT IN SEPTEMBER – On September 23, Ms. Judi Fenton is returning to Discovery to follow up on her visit and Professional Development sessions with teachers last year. A schedule will be provided once it is finalized with her. There will be no school on Wednesday, September 25, so teachers can participate in an all-day training.

Every student will attend twice a week to practice. Fridays as a whole group rehearsal and the second day according to their voice classification.

CHOIR AUDITIONS
The Choir auditions will take place on Wednesday, August 21 and Thursday, August 22 during Snack Recess (9:45-10:10) in the music room. Students from grades 1-12 who did not audition last year are invited to audition. The students may sing a song of their preference acapella.
Students and parents are asked to commit to the whole year’s participation in Choir. Our Choir has been invited and has accepted the invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City next summer, and practices will be geared to prepare the students for that prestigious event. A schedule of practices will be provided this week. There will be a meeting for the new and returning choir member parents on Tuesday, May 28 at
2:15 p.m. in the school Library.
This meeting is to present the New York City
(Carnegie Hall) project.
Discovery Choir to Carneggie Hall, New York
As announced in our General Assembly, the Discovery School Choir has been invited by The Distinguished Concert International New York (DCINY) to participate in their Choral Music for Treble Voices.
The event will take place on June 2014 at the Carnegie Hall in New York City, one of the most famous Concert Halls in the entire world!

CHOIR GALA PRESENTATION
Our choir has been invited to be a part of a fund- raising gala in benefit of the CRISTO DEL PICACHO FOUNDATION this Friday, March 1, in the evening. Furthermore, some of our students will be dancing in this gala as part of the dance companies. The gala will take place in the Convention Center of the Honduras Maya Hotel, and will air live on the Televicentro channels at 9:00 p.m.

The Discovery Choir will travel to San Pedro Sula (Feb. 21 -24) to participate in the 2013 Music Festival of the Association of Bilingual Schools of Honduras (ABSH)
We are also taking Vocal and Piano Soloists to the competition.

During Song Fest 2012
Rehearsals begin this week.
The choir will be singing at Martin Luther King Assembly on January 18 here at the school.
We will participate at the ABSH Music Festival on February 22 -23 at San Pedro Sula.
